CallStopper Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 18, 2026
Overview
CallStopper is an Android utility by Namode Studio for blocking unwanted calls using rules created by the user. The current app build is designed to work locally on your device without requiring an account.
This policy explains what information the app may process to provide call blocking, exceptions, history, and backup features.
Data we process
Depending on the features you use, CallStopper may process and store the following data locally on your device:
- Blocking rules, including rule type, pattern, label, active status, and creation time.
- Whitelist entries, including phone number, optional note, and creation time.
- Block history, including phone number, timestamp, matched rule label, and whether the event was a call or SMS notification.
- App preferences, including contact bypass, phone number normalization, and whether blocked calls should be hidden from the system call log when Android allows it.
The current app build does not require a user account and does not upload this data to Namode Studio servers.
Android permissions and roles
- Call Screening role: Required by Android so CallStopper can evaluate and reject incoming calls.
- Contacts permission: Used only to check whether a number is in your contacts when contact bypass is enabled.
- Notification Listener access: Optional. Used to detect and hide SMS notifications from blocked senders. CallStopper does not delete SMS messages.
- File access via Android picker/share flows: Used for user-initiated import and export of JSON backups.
Retention
Data remains on your device until you delete it, clear app data, uninstall the app, or remove specific entries inside the app. Exported backup files remain wherever you save or share them.
Your choices
- You can enable or disable rules at any time.
- You can remove whitelist entries.
- You can clear block history.
- You can revoke Android permissions from system settings.
- You can delete all local app data by uninstalling CallStopper or clearing app storage.
Children
CallStopper is not directed to children. The app is intended for device owners who manage their own call blocking settings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the product changes. The updated version will show a new "Last updated" date.
